My story
I'm LaTonya Demps, LCSW
—a therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified IFS Trainer, and organizational wellness consultant who believes we heal better together than alone.
For over 15 years, I've worked at the intersection of clinical practice, consultation, and systemic change, helping therapists deepen their IFS mastery, organizations transform their cultures, and communities create spaces where healing becomes a shared journey rather than a solitary struggle.
My Work Centers on Collective Transformation
I partner with three communities:
IFS Therapists seeking consultation who are building confidence in parts work, navigating complex cases, or working toward certification. My consultation style is supportive and grounded—I create space for your clinical questions and uncertainties while helping you find clarity when you feel stuck or reactive with clients.
Organizations and business leaders ready to move beyond surface-level wellness initiatives. I design wellness programs and systemic interventions that address the root causes of burnout, perfectionism, and turnover—creating cultures of genuine wellbeing and belongingness where people thrive.
Communities seeking healing spaces through facilitated circles, business retreats, and workshops that honor both individual and collective experiences. These gatherings break cycles of self-sacrifice and create new possibilities for balanced, connected living.
Why My Approach Is Different
Traditional approaches treat healing as an individual pursuit
I know better. Growing up watching my mother and grandmother serve as pillars of community advocacy taught me that when we help the helpers—whether through clinical consultation, organizational change, or healing circles—we create ripple effects that transform entire systems.
I bring evidence-based rigor (IFS, EMDR, EFT, IDI®) together with research-informed insights (my work on self-compassion and perfectionism was published in The Counseling Psychologist) and a deep commitment to making mental health a community imperative, not a luxury.
As founder of Collective Wellness Counseling and Consulting and former adjunct professor at Michigan State University, I've spent my career proving that when we invest in helping helpers heal themselves—whether they're therapists, leaders, or caregivers—we transform the communities they serve.
What People Experience Working With Me
IFS Consultees find my consultation authentic, responsive, and grounded—a space to bring real cases, work through stuck points, and build confidence. I help practitioners lead from a grounded, compassionate place and trust the IFS process, even when it feels uncertain.
Organizations discover that my approach goes deeper than typical wellness consulting. I conduct thorough assessments, design tailored interventions, and work alongside leadership to embed wellbeing into organizational culture—resulting in reduced burnout, improved retention, and workplaces where people feel safe to bring their whole selves.
What Clients Say
From a Client:
"When I began therapy with LaTonya, I was at one of my lowest points. I was getting a divorce, in poor physical health, was overly stressed at work and dealing with the aftermath of the pandemic. Working with LaTonya really changed my relationship with myself in the best way.
She helped me by teaching me many different ways to hold myself with respect, compassion and love. With the skills she taught me, I have been better able to navigate life and chart a path for myself that I am proud of."
From an Organizational Partner:
"Working with LaTonya was a privilege and a pleasure. She is truly exceptional in her ability to foster connection and create meaningful experiences in any setting.
From her innovative leadership in implementing the Intercultural Development Inventory and workplace wellness programs to her thoughtful planning and execution of solutions designed exclusively to the unique goals and mission of organizations, LaTonya consistently demonstrated a commitment to enhancing staff wellbeing and inclusivity.
Her ability to connect with people, innovative ideas, and commitment to improving workplace culture have made a lasting impact on our staff."
